SHU Rugby
I have been the Commercial Manager of SHU Rugby since 2006, helping to raise much needed funds for the club to pay for training equipment, professional coaches and to subsidise costs to enable players from all backgrounds to be able to take part in sport, in a comfortable, supportive and safe environment.
The role is a voluntary role, and throughout my time working with the club I have been successful in promoting the fund raising projects, most famously the SHU Rugby Nude Fundraising Calendar and 'Making of' films, and promoting the ethos of the club: that we are always friendly, welcoming and inclusive.
I set up and maintain the two main SHU Rugby websites; the online store which sells the calendars and films at www.shurugbyshop.co.uk and the Tumblr blog at http://shurugby.tumblr.com/

The SHU Rugby online store also sells fundraising products for other charities and sports groups.
Over the years we have provided sales and distribution services through shurugbyshop for Beverley Rugby Club, Nottingham Rugby Club, Rugby Helps our Heroes (fundraising for Help for Heroes) and LAD Prostate (fundraising for Prostate Cancer UK).
All these services have been provided completely free of charge to the charities and clubs so that they receive 100% of all profits that their products raise. Our thinking is that by providing this free service, it brings additional traffic to the site and therefore promotes our fundraising products at the same time. Everyone's a winner!
For 2016 and 2017 the SHU Rugby calendar products were also raising money on behalf of charity NASS, the National Ankylosing Spondylitis Society.
In 2017, SHU Rugby also supported the Weston Park Teenage Cancer Trust and Macmillan Cancer Support, and we sponsored the Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice Team of the Year Award.

The 2018 SHU Rugby calendar and 'Making of' film are helping raise money for the Danny Porter Foundation.
Danny is Head of Sport Services at Sheffield Hallam University and close friend of SHU Rugby. In 2005 Danny was told that he had a rare facial tumour known as Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC) and the 38-year-old endured a complex 20 hour operation, which led to the loss of his right eye.
Danny was inspired to set up the Danny Porter Foundation to raise funds for research, support, care and equipment for people suffering from cancer or requiring neurological surgery, with proceeds going to Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, Neurocare and other local causes. SHU Rugby is incredibly proud to be supporting this amazing charity.
